‘Pillion’ movie review

Written by:

Seeing Dudley from Harry Potter in such spicy situations was not on my 2026 bingo card, but I’m not mad about it either. The actor, Harry Melling, stars in the new movie “Pillion” as a timid man who is swept off his feet by an enigmatic and handsome biker played by Alexander Skarsgård who takes him on as his submissive.

The gag

I had really high expectations for the film and it actually exceeded them. The highlight of the film for me was Skarsgård’s performance. He played the dom character perfectly. He nearly always had his guard up and lowered it ever so slightly a few times to show that there were human emotions behind his masculine facade.

I also loved the juxtaposition between how the main character acted with his family and how he was around his boyfriend. It was especially interesting when all the characters came together at a dinner table.

And, I really liked the overall message about knowing your worth and asking for what you want in a relationship.

The drag

As for critiques, I would have liked to have gotten to know the other characters in the biker gang more. I think that would have added a little more depth and maybe more comedy to the movie.

Also, I wish the film gave a little bit more context about the dom/sub relationships, like why they’re interested in it or how they got introduced to it.

The verdict

With all that said, I thought “Pillion” was great, but I do recognize that it’s pretty niche and might be too spicy or out there for the average viewer.

If you’re interested in the film, it’s set to roll out in U.S. theaters in February but is already available to stream in the U.K.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
