I can confidently say “The Studio” is one of the highest quality shows on TV right now. From the cinematography to the writing, Seth Rogan absolutely knocked it out of the park with this satirical comedy that pokes fun at the film industry.
In the series, Rogan stars as the newly appointed head of a floundering film production company, where he struggles to balance the studio’s goal to make loads of money with his own ambition to produce quality movies.
The series also stars Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Bryan Cranston, and there are tons of high-profile guest appearances.
My favorite part of “The Studio” was the “oners.” They used long takes a lot throughout the show and episode two is actually just one continuous take where Rogan’s character keeps messing up the filming of an intricate scene with Greta Lee.
The show was also just so pleasing to look at. The set design, costumes, lighting and camera work were so spectacular.
My only criticism of the series is that the episodes all kind of felt disconnected from each other and there really wasn’t an overarching conflict to tie the whole season together. I just wish there was more of a throughline.
With all that said, I highly recommend streaming “The Studio.” It’s really funny, stunning to look at and it would be a quick binge with only 10 short episodes on Apple TV+.
