‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ movie review

“Jurassic World Rebirth” was one of the better blockbuster-worthy movies of the summer.

The latest film in the series follows an extraction team that goes to an abandoned island research facility to get DNA from three of the biggest dinosaurs on Earth in order to develop a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

The cast is stacked, with Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali firing on all cylinders.

Johnathan Bailey was especially cute as a nerdy paleontologist with slutty little glasses and tight khakis. There’s a scene with him in a harness that leaves little to the imagination.

There are a few exposition dumps in the beginning of the film, but once you get through those, the plot is easy to get into, the pacing is great, and I never got bored.

There was a ton of action throughout, but my favorite scene actually just featured a tranquil interaction with some dinosaurs. You’ll know it when you see it.

Plus, this movie introduced an adorable little dinosaur that I’m now obsessed with. I could absolutely see it becoming the next Baby Yoda.

Along with the extraction team, we’re also introduced to a family whose boat capsized. I honestly could have used less of them, especially the younger guy, who was pretty annoying.

Another thing that bothered me is that at one point in the movie, a character gets injured and then that injury just comes and goes with the wind.

With all that said, I liked this film better than any in the Chris Pratt era but not as much as the originals. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a fun and nostalgic time at the movies.
