One thing about me is that I love a romantic comedy. Unfortunately, it seems like they don’t get released theatrically very often anymore. That’s why I jumped at the chance to see “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” when it hit theaters.
It’s a new French film about an aspiring author who gets invited to Jane Austen’s Writers’ Residency in England and finds herself caught in a love triangle. She’s then forced to let go of her insecurities to decide what she wants for herself and to achieve her dreams.
I thought the movie was really cute. The way it was shot created a vibe that was very comforting and sweet. Plus, I found both of the male leads super charming.
The film did have quite a few scenes that didn’t contribute much to the plot, so it dragged on a bit. I would have cut those parts out and added more scenes with the love interests.
The film is partially in French, but there are a lot of parts in English as well, so don’t let that deter you from seeing it.
I gave the movie 6 out of 10 stars. If you like rom-coms, I think it’s worth a watch, even if you wait to stream it at home.
