‘The Drama’ movie review

Written by:

So, the new movie “The Drama” is about a man finding out the worst thing his fiancée has ever done and, no spoilers, but it turns out to actually be really heinous. I was pretty uncomfortable with how the film harped on that revelation, but I kind of loved that they weren’t afraid to go there despite the controversial topic..

The gag

What I liked most about “The Drama” was how it explored how a seemingly good relationship can be put to the ultimate test with one admission. It exemplified how you might not really know people as well as you think you do, even those closest to you.

Another highlight for me was Robert Pattinson’s performance after his character found out what Zendaya’s character did. He was trying so hard to rationalize it so he could move forward with their wedding and his expressions were so fantastic as he moved through those emotions.

The drag

The thing I liked the least about the film was the middle. Once the secret was revealed, there weren’t many major highs or lows. It was just pretty stagnant until the end when things came to a head.

I also wish Alana Haim was in the movie a little bit more. I thought she was really funny with how she expressed her strong feelings towards the bride, and I could have used a few more scenes with her laying into Zendaya.

The verdict

With all that said, I had a good time watching “The Drama” and I think you’ll like it too if you like dark comedies or even if you’re just a fan of the two leads.
